China Story - Nameless Ministers III,  Be in Subjection to the Lord

Very few Chinese Christians received Jesus from their parents, not this brother, I called him brother W. He is from a Christian family. His mom brought him to church at very young age. He never agreed on evolution theory. He even told his young friends “there is a God in this world” while in elementary.

As he grew up, God’s word was on his side, leading him, guiding him and answering his prayers. He was also in subjection to the Lord and followed His guidance. He had Bible with him when he started boarding school, college until his first job away from hometown. God has been answering his prayers. In one of his job shifting, he prayed to the Lord that he would follow the Lord more tightly if his prayers are answered. God miraculously opened the path as he prayed and led him to a local church, where he never knew. He joined the baptism training on his first day at church. He was baptized in public after 3 months of training and started his tithing faithfully.

There were much temptations at work. One of them was to make extra bucks from his business trips because his job required a lot of travelling. That was a very big pocket money to pay for his mortgage. He knew that all his colleagues did it this way. He didn’t realize that this dishonesty displeased God. When he started to know that it was wrong, he stopped making even a penny out of any business trips. He had less income, which worried his family. But he felt himself coming closer to the Lord.

In his personal life, he prayed for a sister led to him by the Lord. He experienced some struggles such as family expectations, self-esteem and desires. He had some opportunities, he even dated a girl with Buddhism family background. He tried to compromise his Christian pursuit and worldly temptation. However, in his heart, he always had the words from Jesus that he should yoke with a believer. Eventually, he submitted to God, and the lord revealed him His plan.

Afterwards, he met a sister who was a fulltime minister of his church, she was also from a  minister’s family. God revealed His blessing to both of them. They also accepted each other in the Lord and received blessings from their parents. The Lord blessed their marriage. They have two children now.

Brother W grew and served in the church and also worked at his secular job. Later God called him to give up his career and serve the Lord full time. He and his wife knelt down and prayed together. He prayed that God’s will to be done in his life, he is subjected to His choice. He knew that he would face a lot of challenges and uncertainties if he follow the Lord to serve at church. He decided to follow God’s calling and give up his career.

Now, brother W has studied at a local seminary for two years. He would follow God’s truth closely and more submissively and press on toward the goal unto the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

He and his church are facing more and more challenges from the community and new policies. Their previous convenient and spacious worshipping place has to close. The church changed to small groups to meet separately each week. While I listened to him sharing all this, I didn’t hear much worries and concerns. He knows that” (Jesus replied, )“Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. (John 14:23)”
